About our products

We take pride in our work and products and use only the best materials available (19 mm kiln-dried SA Pine that we plane down and then cut to a perfect fit tongue and groove). This process produces a 15 mm tongue and groove plank that is superior to most similar products on the market.

Our Wendy houses are treated with A & H Wood sealant that protects it against the elements. We recommend that your Wendy house be treated with our sealant within three weeks after installation and thereafter on an annual basis. This is also a requirement for the 10yr warranty against collapse.  T & C’s apply.

  • A & H Wendy Houses will not accept responsibility if the Wendy House does not fit into the terrain appointed by the client nor will we accept responsibilty if the terrain is not suitable for the erection of the Wendy ordered.
  • The terrain identified for erection of the Wendy must be unobstructed.
  • For the large size Wendy houses either a concrete slab or a stilted base is necessary.

Why a Tongue and Groove Wendy House?

Seals completely.

More sturdy structure.

Movable.

The Tongue & Groove Wendy

This is a wendy manufactured frrom wood that is tongued & grooved , the one side of the plank has a groove into which the tongue on the other sides slots in righly. The tongue and groove is acheived by machining the pine with a cutter machine that planes the wood on the top & bottom & simultaneously cutting the tongue on the one side and the groove on the other.

This is the HIGHEST quality Wendy as the planks merely overlap but creates a perfect seal as if it is a solid pannel. The planks run vertical (from top to bottom ). Be aware that some tongue & groove wendys are made of ceiling material , although it is tongue & groove the wood is only +- 8mm thick.

A quality tongue and groove wendy is made from graded S5 dried pine that is machined to a +- 15mm tongue & groove plank. Make sure of the thickness of the planks and the guarantee

The Louvre Wendy

The planks usually run horizontal and overlap each other. This wendy can be sturdy should the manufacturer use quality wood and especially a sturdy frame on to which the horizontal planks are fixed. The problem with this construction is that once corrected it is extremely difficult to take apart and move should you wish to move the wendy.

A lot of manufacturers use crating or pallet wood that is sub standard and very thin frames that tends to let these wendys start leaning over after a short period. Make sure of the thickness and quality of wood   ( is it graded material ) and of the frame wood and check your guarantee

The Log Profile Wendy

This wendy is manufactured by splitting ( or taking of the edges ) of a round pole which creates a half round plank. This is then also nailed to a frame. In this case some manufacturers split a round pole in half , this is truly a log profile, others only take of the very edge of the side and use this plank which is very thin on its edges and only +- 15mm thick in the middle of the profile. Make sure of the thickness of the profile in the middle of the plank & the thickness of the framing wood used and once again the guarantee.

Tips:

1. In all thee cases make sure that quality nails are used on the pannels ( like ringshank ) that do not pull out like ordinary wire nails.

2. A corrugated  iron roof lasts longer than fibre cement roof.

3. Make sure that the installer lifts the wendy off the ground with a base or bricks to prevent water damage from the bottom.

4. Treat your wendy annually with woodsealer to protect it against elements.

Enjoy your quality extra space!
